At Brown & Brown Absence Services Group, we are dedicated to supporting causes and organizations that reflect our values. Over our twenty-year history, our teammates have invested hundreds of hours in supporting organizations that hold personal significance for both our organization and our individual teammates. While fundraising is always exciting, particularly when it involves a round of golf or the chance to purchase some new accessories, hands-on opportunities, such as meal prepping and guest chef roles, truly allow us to contribute directly to these causes and make a difference.

Notre Dame Cristo Rey
Since the fall of 2017, Brown & Brown Absence Services Group has been proud to support Notre Dame Cristo Rey (NDCR). Located in Methuen, Massachusetts, NDCR is a private, Catholic, college-preparatory high school serving 290 economically disadvantaged youth. NDCR provides its students with a top-of-the-line education and has held a 100% college acceptance rate since its inception in 2004.

NDCR is part of the Cristo Rey Network, whose education model is built around the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), a unique partnership with the business community. We have been a consistent and dedicated participant in the CWSP, welcoming and employing students from each grade into our organization to gain valuable on-the-job experience.

Each year, a cohort of two to four students joins our Shared Resources Team in Wakefield, Massachusetts, to assist with various administrative duties. This program not only provides students with professional work experience but also nurtures their personal growth, instilling in them a sense of responsibility and a taste of life in the corporate world. The students’ work not only earns them tuition money that is applied to their scholarships and reduces the cost of admission at NDCR but also equips them with valuable skills and experiences that will shape their future careers.

Courtney Scott, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2019 and played a pivotal role in establishing the program at Brown & Brown. Lisa Forsyth, Senior Shared Services Representative, has been a constant presence in each student’s journey, serving as a mentor and supervisor. Their unwavering dedication and guidance, along with the contributions of many others, have been instrumental in the success of this initiative, demonstrating the collective effort and shared values of our team.

In addition to being a part of the CWSP, Brown & Brown Absence Services Group is proud to help sponsor its annual gala. Along with the CWSP, the money from the gala helps cover a portion of a student’s tuition.

As an organization, we aim to cultivate a culture of transparency, respectfulness and a spirited environment where people are rewarded and recognized for embodying these values and giving their personal best on behalf of themselves, the company and our clients. One of the ways we do this is through the promotion of our Core Values. Creating Opportunities is one such Core Value, and our long-standing commitment to NDCR is a meaningful way that we uphold this value in the community. Just as we work to provide opportunities for our customers, clients and teammates to thrive, the CWSP program and our overall support of it provides a platform for young people to grow and develop for the future.
