The Medicare Employee Assistance team assists Brown & Brown employees and their families with Medicare decisions.

Understanding the different parts of Medicare

Medicare coverage begins with Original Medicare.

Eligibility is based on certain requirements, including work history. For most employees, enrollment is not automatic and requires an individual to take action unless they are already receiving Social Security benefits.

Parts A & B cover many services but have no limits on client expenses.

Part A

Hospital Insurance

Part B

Medical Insurance

  • Covers inpatient hospital care, short-term skilled nursing/rehab facilities, and hospice care
  • Premium-free for most beneficiaries
  • Hospital deductible $1,736 per benefit period
  • Hospital coinsurance $434 for days 61-90
  • Covers doctor’s office visits, outpatient/day procedures and therapies, specified preventive services, and durable medical equipment
  • Premium of $202.90
  • Medical deductible $283 per year
  • Medical coinsurance 20%

  • Advantage plans offer all the benefits of Part A, B, & D through a private insurance company
